The word 'anthropology' has been used in various contexts and for different purposes. For my purposes, I would like to highlight the old fashioned definition of the word and the plainer meanings behind it, although that's what opened it to misinterpretation in the beginning, I guess.
In relation to information science and the overall information seeker behaviors, and the digitizing world around them, it would seem logical to sway towards an examination of the evolution over time... or lack thereof.
In most of my experience, the connection between human evolution and the evolution of technology has been interconnected. As much as the techies don't want to admit that they need outside influences and opinions to better their work, information scientists are always seeking the perspectives of others to grow their collection. It's about who you serve and who what you do is for.
This is what I love about my work. I want to learn about the ideas and opinions of others so I can grow as a person, information science and media professional, and better the world we live in today. I, often, relate myself to Gandalf and look for deeper meanings behind what I am here for. Longing to be the guide for wary or reluctant information seekers, I thrive to find what they need and provide it to them to make their journey into the future easier.
I don't and won't always succeed. But I will continue to try.
