My world began when I encountered a book. It had a leather cover with gold letters etched across the front. There were flakes of leather peeling off and silver on the ends of the pages. The pages were thin, so very thin, and there were so many words. The wine was weak and the inside pages were strong, but that wouldn't hold it together. As my 3 year old fists grabbed the covers and pulled, my parents screamed as I tore apart their oldest version of their Bible. And then, used my mouth to hold onto it as they tried to get it back from me. ... They forgave me for that. But the taste of that leather, I'll never forget. The texture against my tongue, my lips, and my fingers will never be gone. Thus started my obsession with rare and old books. ... as a bibliophile.

Explaining It To Myself

The word ' anthropology ' has been used in various contexts and for different purposes. For my purposes, I would like to highlight the old fashioned definition of the word and the plainer meanings behind it, although that's what opened it to misinterpretation in the beginning, I guess. In relation to information science and the overall information seeker behaviors, and the digitizing world around them, it would seem logical to sway towards an examination of the evolution over time... or lack thereof. In most of my experience, the connection between human evolution and the evolution of technology has been interconnected. As much as the techies don't want to admit that they need outside influences and opinions to better their work, information scientists are always seeking the perspectives of others to grow their collection. It's about who you serve and who what you do is for. This is what I love about my work. I want to learn about the ideas and opinions...

Are Books Still Relevant?

In a world where we seem to be transitioning from print to digital, some question the usability and need for print materials. What they are forgetting is that, whether you print it or keep it digital, it's still print. So, to make it a bit easier to understand, the question is whether analog is still necessary when digital is available. Unfortunately for the nay-sayers, the answer is still very much that analog, physically printed forms or the print or material, is still very much relevant and needed because of the unreliability of the digital. And for those doubters out there, don't be like the "flat-Earthers". Step away from what you perceive and want to believe is all there is and look at the whole picture of truths, facts, and undeniable circumstances. Without electrical or battery power, a digital device is just a great paperweight. Most people argue for eBooks and such readers.
